Seeds of Giving

When you do something good to people or when you give to people, Do you expect to receive immediately or do you expect people to be good to you immediately? Are you kind to people just because you want people to be kind to you or Are you naturally kind to people?

Growing up, There was a woman I knew that usually gave a lot and was also kind (She is still the same today). Even at her place of work, people had a good opinion of her, she always tried to give even if it was her last penny, she wasn't expectant if it was returned and this usually marveled me. Presently, She is reaping the fruit of what she sowed.

The essence of that short story is as believers, we should not give because we are compelled to. We should give from our hearts. There are a lot of people around us that need help and we can help them in one way or the other, it doesn't have to be helping them in terms of material things. You can help people by job referral, business referral. You can also help people by patronizing their businesses, advertising their businesses, and so on. Personally, when giving, I ask the holy spirit for guidance and direction. There is no point in giving or helping people when it's not from the heart.

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver". 2nd Corinthians 9:7
